Is your programming for boys, girls, or both?

The Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse club offers programming for both boys and girls. Players are combined and play men's field lacrosse at the U7 and U9 levels. Men's field lacrosse and women's field lacrosse have very different rules and unique equipment requirements. Recognizing this, we offer specific programs in each discipline after the U9 age division.

Where and when are practices held?

The Turf Training Centre 4  (1030 34 Avenue, Nisku, AB) is the home base for the Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club. The Turf Training Centre (TTC-4) offers 4, 50 x 30-yard turf fields equipped with s lacrosse nets, and L screens. There is also ample, free parking, restrooms, a concession, and change room facilities on-site at the TTC-4. Indoor play helps our club avoid weather-related cancellations to programming and a clean, well-outfitted practice facility.

On occasion, we utilize other facilities. Parents and players are notified of any changes of location for practices, scrimmages, or gameplay.

PLEASE NOTE:  Field day play, involving all of the member clubs of the Alberta Field Lacrosse Association, takes place in Red Deer at Motorworks Sports Fields or the McLean Fields.

Practices are held on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings depending on the division of play and run from 1 to 2 hours depending on the division.  The earliest practice time begins at 6:00 PM (typically reserved for our youngest players).  A full practice schedule (by division) will be posted when registration opens in mid-April.

Are there any rules about boundaries that I need to know about to register my player?

Yes.  The Alberta Field Lacrosse Association (AFLA) has six minor field lacrosse associations across the province, each with established boundaries. All minor field lacrosse associations are organized into regional service areas based on geography. The field lacrosse association that you can register with depends on your residential address.  Please review the information found in Boundaries for more information.

Players who wish to seek a release from the minor field lacrosse club tied to their residential address must follow the Alberta Field Lacrosse Association Player Release Policy

Do players need previous field lacrosse experience to register with the Edmonton Razorbacks?

No!  We believe in grassroots player development and diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of who we are. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. No previous field lacrosse experience is needed to play for the Razorbacks.  Our programs build a strong foundation in basic lacrosse skills and advance players to understanding lacrosse systems and competitive gameplay. We emphasize teamwork, and collaboration and encourage a passion for field lacrosse.

Do you refund player fees if a player wishes to withdraw from one of your programs?

Player registrations must be paid in full at least 48 hours before the start of Razorback’s programming. If registration has not been paid in full, the player will be placed on a waiting list until their registration has been paid in full.

The Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club is a not-for-profit, grassroots sport organization. We strive to make our fees as affordable as possible for our members (parents/players). While we appreciate that players/parents may register for sport programming and subsequently wish to withdraw, as the season approaches, our club incurs expenses that are based on player numbers and often cannot be recouped if players withdraw. Recognizing this, refunds are offered on a conditional basis:

  • If a player wishes to withdraw and submits a refund request 21 days or more before the start of programming, the Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club will issue a full refund, less an administration fee equal to 15% of the full registration fee.

  • Refund requests that are submitted less than 21 days before the start of programming will not be considered unless the player has a bona fide medical/health condition that makes participation unsafe and/or impossible.

  • Medical refunds will be considered by our Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis with the understanding that medical documentation to support the request must be provided.  If approved, players withdrawing for medical/health reasons will receive a refund that is pro-rated to the programming dates when the player was able to participate plus an administrative fee equal to 15% of the full registration fee.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Registrar, Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club.  The Edmonton Razorbacks Lacrosse Club reserves the right to issue refunds at its sole discretion. If a refund is issued, the Razorbacks are under no obligation to issue the same or similar refund in the future. The Edmonton Razorbacks have the right to refuse any and all refund requests.
